Scholars Academy service agreements are created to serve the best interest of all involved parties. This includes students, parents, guardians, tutors, and administrative personnel. Scholars Academy reserves the right to alter the service agreement without any prior notice.
Scholars Academy does not automatically accept all tutor applicants. We require a prospective tutor to be at least 16 years old, hold a minimum of GCE ‘O’ level certificate, and reside in Singapore. Also, tutors must confirm their eligibility to perform private tutoring in Singapore prior to registration.
Tutors are expected to provide accurate personal information at all times. Scholars Academy will not tolerate tutors misleading clients with bogus credentials or bogus personal information. All posted content, whether publicly or privately transmitted, is the sole responsibility of the tutor. Scholars Academy does not take responsibility for the origin of this content.
Scholars Academy will verify tutor documents in order to ensure that the level of qualification is directly aligned with the tuition fee requested by the tutor. Any tutor submitting false documentation will be turned over to the Singapore Police Force. While Scholars Academy cannot guarantee accuracy in all documents, our goal is to maintain a 99% accuracy rate.

While basic ethical rules have not been listed here, Scholars Academy expects all tutors to follow this unspoken code. This code contains such things as maintaining a respect for the well-being and success of your students.
Cancellation of Assignment by Tutor
If a client cancels the tuition due to a tutor not showing up for a session, the tutor must bear the first month’s commission for Scholars Academy. In the event where the tutor cancels the lesson before the start or during the first month, the tutor must get a replacement who is of equivalent or higher educational grades and able to meet all the requirements. Otherwise, the tutor has to bear the full amount of the commission.
If the tutoring period is not specifically declared, the student and tutor should be prepared to commit to tutoring until the end of the year or more than three months.
Scholars Academy Commission
Commission refers to the amount Scholars Academy levies for a successfully matched tuition assignment. For the first two weeks, a tutor’s tuition fees will be paid to Scholars Academy as commission. After the initial two week period, clients will pay the tuition fees directly to the tutor. However, if the tuition assignment has a duration of less than three months, the commission will be evenly divided between tutors and clients. This will be confirmed between the client and the tutor prior to the beginning of tutoring. In the event of cancellation either by the parent or tutor anytime during the first month, half of the amount will be paid to us as commission.
Actual tuition rates differ for each tutor, depending on several factors. The ranges of tuition rates listed on our site are to be used as a reference.
Tutors are not allowed to change the tuition fees or commission in any way for the first month without the consent of Scholars Academy. Payment collection details will be discussed and confirmed once tuition assignments are successfully matched. Payment can be made to the tuition agency in the form of fund transfers, cheque, or cash.
Location of Tutoring Lessons
Tutors will conduct teaching at the student’s residence unless specified and agreed upon by both client and tutor.
Tutor Reassignment or Cancellation
If at any time the client is not satisfied with the tutor, the client may request a replacement. However, the client is responsible for paying the attended tuition fees.
